Swan Island Peace Convergence 2015

Swan Island Peace Convergence 2015

Bring all the troops home. End the U.S. Alliance

About SIPC

DATES : 21st – 24th September 2015

For the past 5 years, peace activists have gathered at the Swan Island Military Base in Queenscliff Victoria, for a week of nonviolently resisting the SAS’s involvement in dirty wars.

This convergence will be different – in fact we are not planning (nor will we support) any civil disobedience.   We are not planning incursions.  We are not planning to blockade the main gate.

This year will be a deliberate attempt to create space for activists to gather without being focused on direct action.  People in the organising group are wanting to:

  • reflect about actions past and what we hope for the future;
  • deepen our own analysis about militarism and how to resist it;
  • engage with the locals about their experiences;
  • to continue to practice living as communities of resistance together.
So book in now to join yet another Peace Convergence where we deepen our commitment and capacity to resist the militarism that is doing such damage and heartache about our world

Bookings are now open for the 2015 Swan Island Peace Convergence!

Swan Island Military base is a key training facility for the SAS who continue to fight and kill in Afghanistan, Iraq, and other countries in Australia’s name. The SAS are a key plank in our contribution to U.S. imperialism through the ANZUS alliance. Swan Island is also a key facility for ASIS, Australia’s overseas intelligence body.

SIPC Peace Classic

This year we are holding the first ever Swan Island Peace Classic.  As part of the SIPC we will be organising a golf tournament on Thursday 24th September.

The Swan Island Peace Classic will be open to all including SIPC participants, Queenscliff community members, Police, ADF personal…
